Spotlight on the World of Art

On July 16, 2008, a lengthy and in-depth article was published in The New York Times as the lead article on the front page of the Arts section. The article detailed our ongoing battle over Park West Gallery's deceptive trade practices in their onboard cruise line art auctions.

In addition to quoting FAR® CEO Theresa Franks, the article features Fine Art Registry members Luis Maldonado, Dr. Venkatraman Srinivasan, Debra and Timothy Vruble. It also quotes the Fine Art Registry® interview with senior German art crime detective Ernst Schöller, and mentions Fine Art Registry articles and videos. The online version has a link to the home page of the Fine Art Registry website. This has brought tremendous recognition to what FAR is doing to champion honesty in art for artists and collectors worldwide. We are very proud to announce our new partnership with Artletics, a web-based company selling high-end limited edition sports art and related products - with a difference. Artletics has several unique aspects to it that really put it in a league of its own, not to be confused with other companies who are simply selling sports memorabilia. "It is our sincere hope that through art we can express the respect we have for the personalities and the games that have enriched the American culture for so long," says company founder Joe Cioffi. He adds, "Artletics is an original brand of sports art that 'Celebrates America's Athletic Legacy.'" Recently, as part of their participation in the National Art Materials Trade Association show in Reno, Fine Art Registry arranged for FAR member and abstract expressionist painter Edward Gilmore to do live painting demonstrations, producing large scale canvases right on the show floor.
